PINOLE -- Police arrested two people in Vallejo after a Pinole bank was robbed late Friday afternoon.

No shots were fired, and no one was injured.

A holdup alarm alerted officers to the robbery at Mechanics Bank at 2690 Pinole Valley Road around 4:33 p.m., according to Pinole police. A man entered the bank and jumped on the teller counter, ordered customers and staff to the floor, pointed the gun at a teller and demanded money.

The man put the money in a bag and ran to a vehicle waiting outside. Pinole police spotted the getaway car shortly after the robbery and pursued the suspects eastbound on Interstate 80 into Vallejo.

Officers stopped the car and took the driver and suspect into custody. They recovered the money stolen from the bank and a stolen handgun.

Gary Fite, 22, of Oakland, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, vehicle pursuit, and possession of a stolen firearm. Regina Dean, 37, of Antioch, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, and vehicle pursuit.
