MARTINEZ -- More than a week after a Martinez man disappeared, his family's supporters are planning a public vigil they hope will focus public attention and help locate the missing 18-year-old.
Ryan Menjivar was last seen around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at his home in Martinez, police say. He left the home sometime during the night and has not returned home or contacted his family.
Supporters will gather at Creekside Open Bible Church at 6 p.m. Wednesday to show support for Ryan and his family, according to a posting at helpfindryan.com, a site family members set up. The church is located at 444 Fig Tree Lane in Martinez.
Family members told television station KGO that Menjivar had said shortly before his disappearance that he was being bullied at Alhambra High School, where he was a senior. Police have classified Menjivar as a voluntary missing adult, meaning they do not have any reason to suspect foul play at this time, according to Martinez police Lt. Aaron Roth.
Menjivar is 6 feet tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing dark jeans, a black shirt and a light green hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Martinez police at 925-372-3440.
