PLEASANT HILL -- A suspected bank robber made off with cash Monday afternoon after presenting a demand note to a teller at a U.S. Bank branch, police said.

The man, described as a heavyset white male in his early 30s, robbed the U.S. Bank branch inside the Lucky grocery store at 155 Crescent Plaza about 12:45 p.m., Cpl. Steven Dexheimer said. The teller read the demand note and handed over cash to the suspect, who was seen driving away in an older-model, gold Honda Accord with significant front-end damage.

It was not immediately known if the note indicated that the man was armed, Dexheimer said. No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect is about 6 feet tall and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants at the time of the robbery, Dexheimer said. Anyone with information about the suspect may contact Pleasant Hill police at 925-288-4630.
