MARTINEZ -- Police are looking for the person responsible for up to $10,000 in damage from painted graffiti they sprayed in and around downtown Martinez and Waterfront Park.

According to police, during the night on Thursday and into the morning on Friday, an unknown person or persons vandalized numerous areas, with the most damage occurring at and around the skateboard park.

The person used spray paint and mainly wrote names and initials.

The damage is estimated between $8,000 and $10,000.

Due to the extensive graffiti, the skate park could potentially be closed, officials said.

Anyone with information on the identity of the person or anyone who witnessed the vandalism should contact the Martinez Police Department 925-372-3440.
