PLEASANT HILL -- A pair of robbers -- one armed with a handgun -- held up a payday loan shop Friday, police said, and for good measure, they took all the phones, too.

The robbery was reported at 2:06 p.m. Friday at the Check 'n Go at 720 Contra Costa Blvd., police said. Two men entered the store and asked a clerk about a certain type of transaction.

As the employee explained the transaction, police said, one of the men pulled out a silver or chrome semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash. The robbers then ordered the clerk to lie on the ground, and, before they fled, took the clerk's phone and the store's phone.

The were last seen on foot on Contra Costa Boulevard, near a shopping center at Golf Club Road, police said. Both suspects were black men in their 20s, described as "average" height and weight. One had short hair and one had dreadlocks, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Pleasant Hill police at 925-288-4630.
