CONCORD -- A 24-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he broke into a locked room in his parents' house and brandished a gun, police said.
Police received a call shortly after 4 p.m. that Jose Avalos was possibly under the influence of drugs and had forced open a locked door in a house in the 3200 block of Wren Avenue.
Three minors between the ages of 9 and 17 were home at the time, according to police. Avalos allegedly threatened family members with a handgun he was cleaning, police said.
Police found Avalos at a market near the intersection of Willow Pass Road and Sixth Street. Police officers didn't find the gun.
Although Avalos has resisted arrest in the past, police said, he was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday. He was being held on suspicion of burglary, brandishing a weapon and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
