ANTIOCH -- A 7-year-old boy shot during a backyard barbecue last month is out of the hospital and expected to make a full recovery, police said Tuesday.

Antioch police are still investigating the shooting, which occurred on March 30 around 4:15 p.m. in the backyard of a home on William Reed Drive. A weapon was fired an unknown amount of times from an area near the G Street overcrossing, and one of the bullets hit the boy, police said.

Investigators said that someone at the barbecue may have been targeted in the shooting and that it may be gang-related. Police still do not have any suspects in the case.

Approximately 15 people were in the backyard when the shots were fired, but none of them reported seeing the shooter, police said.
