MARTINEZ -- The Contra Costa District Attorney's Office on Tuesday charged two alleged gang members with murder in connection with an Antioch man's death in Pittsburg nearly five years ago.

Jesse Saucedo, 35, was fatally shot in the head inside an apartment in the 4200 block of Heights Avenue on Aug. 14, 2008.

Prosecutors say Derrick Harper, 37, and Joseph Bradshaw, 38, lured Saucedo to Bradshaw's apartment under false pretenses and killed him. Their charges carry gang enhancements and a special circumstance allegation that the killing occurred in the course of a robbery.

Harper, who was arrested by Pittsburg police on Tuesday, is accused of firing the fatal shot. The District Attorney's Office expects to book Bradshaw into County Jail; he's currently serving a prison sentence in Susanville for robberies committed in Contra Costa and Solano counties.

Deputy district attorney Mary Knox credited Pittsburg homicide investigators for working on the case for years after Saucedo's death.

"They would not put it on the back burner," she said.
