Bay Point residents will have to wait until next month to see if they will receive a rate reduction on their Golden State Water Co. bills.

At a meeting this week in San Francisco, the state Public Utilities Commission put off a decision until May 9 on a proposal to lower the average residential monthly water bill of Bay Point customers by 4.2 percent from 2013 through 2015, or from about $61 to $56.

In March, an administrative law judge proposed the rate reduction for Bay Point customers as part of a larger rate-setting case for three regions in California served by Golden State Water.
