As filming began Monday in New Orleans for "When the Game Stands Tall" more details were also released about the film, which focuses on the De La Salle High football program and coach Bob Ladouceur.

The movie, based on Neil Hayes' book chronicling the 2002 season and the Spartans' national-record winning streak, will star Laura Dern, Michael Chiklis and Alexander Ludwig along with Jim Caviezel.

The film's release is slated for fall of 2014.

Chiklis ("The Shield") will play De La Salle defensive coordinator Terry Eidson and Laura Dern ("Jurassic Park") will portray Ladouceur's wife, Bev.

Caviezel's role as Ladouceur was publicized last year.

Ludwig ("The Hunger Games") will co-star as running back Chris Ryan, a fictional character that appears to be based on Maurice Jones-Drew. According to a press release from Mandalay, which is producing the film, Ryan is chasing the state scoring record.

Thomas Carter ("Coach Carter") is directing the movie and David Zelon ("Soul Surfer") is producing. Scott Marshall Smith adapted the screenplay from Hayes' book.
