PLEASANTON -- In a three-day national competition to test their knowledge of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, a student team from Amador Valley High School took second place at the 26th Annual We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution National Finals in Washington, D.C.

Amador Valley also finished second at the national competition in 2011 and 2007 and won the title in 1995.

This year's competition ended Monday and was won by a team from Grant High School in Portland, Ore.

Student teams from 45 states and the District of Columbia took part in days of simulated Congressional hearings that tested their knowledge. More than 1,900 students, teacher and judges attended the awards ceremony.
