PITTSBURG -- Residents are invited to turn out for a town hall meeting at Los Medanos College on May 16 that will put them in the driver's seat when it comes to grappling with the state's budget.

The event is sponsored by state assembly members Susan Bonilla and Jim Frazier, who represent East County residents.

Bonilla and Frazier are working with the Los Medanos political science department, professor Milton Clarke and Next 10, an independent, nonpartisan group to present the workshop, which is dubbed the "The California Budget Challenge." During the workshop, residents will be able to choose from options that lawmakers are faced with when trying to balance the state's $90 billion general fund budget.

The event will be on May 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the library community room of Los Medanos College, 2700 E. Leland Road, Pittsburg.

Residents can show up the day of the event or RSVP in advance by going to www.asmdc.org/bonilla or www.asmdc.org/frazier. For more information, call 925-521-1511.
