ANTIOCH -- No criminal charges will be filed against a man who prosecutors say shot and killed a woman's stalker in self-defense last week in Antioch, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office.

Antioch resident Nyjeah Jenkins, 22, was found dead from a gunshot wound on the grounds of the Hudson Townhouse Manor apartments Friday morning. Police arrested the admitted shooter, a man whose identity is not being released.

A prosecutor on Tuesday determined the shooter killed Jenkins in self-defense and in the defense of others. Video surveillance of the incident shows that Jenkins surprised an ex-girlfriend he was stalking outside her apartment, pushed her aside and barged into the residence before being shot by a man inside, deputy district attorney Mary Knox said.

Investigators believe a wounded Jenkins retreated and died where he was found. A gun was retrieved from his body, Knox said.
