CONCORD -- A trap shooting competition for disabled veterans will take place this Saturday in Concord.

The free event is hosted by the Bay Point Rod and Gun Club.

"We've been doing this for four years and it is supportive of veterans," said club vice president and Navy veteran Noel O'Brien. "It's working out great. The guys have a great time. It's a fun thing."

While many of the veterans who attend the event are from the veterans hospital in Martinez, the event is open to all disabled veterans.

The event begins at 10 a.m. at the United Sportsman shooting range, 4700 Evora Road, Concord. Each veteran will work with a coach from the Bay Point Rod and Gun Club during the event. Prizes will be awarded to outstanding shooters. There will also be a catered lunch provided by Kinder Custom Meats. For more information, call 925-963-8046.

The event is sponsored by the Gun Works in Pleasant Hill and West Coast Sportsman Products in Concord.
