HERCULES -- Fire crews are swarming around a one-acre vegetation fire that broke out along a ridge on the city's southern border, but officials say the fire is spreading slowly thanks to flat terrain near the flames.

No homes are currently threatened by the fire near Turquoise Drive, which was reported around 4:40 p.m., according to Contra Costa Fire Inspector George Laing.

Crews from Contra-Costa Fire are being helped by Cal Fire and a helicopter from the East Bay Regional Park District.

There have been no reports of injuries.
