WALNUT CREEK -- A paraglider fell and died Sunday in the Lime Ridge Open Space.
The man in his 50s for some reason fell while paragliding around 6 p.m. Sunday and had to be extracted by rescue teams from the open space. He was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, but did not survive the injuries sustained from the fall, according to a news release from Walnut Creek Police Department.
Other paragliders were with the victim and witnessed the fall, according to the release.
The victim has not been identified pending notification of family.
The incident happened just behind Boundary Oak Golf Course at 3800 Valley Vista Road in Walnut Creek.
