MARTINEZ -- A 32-year-old Vallejo man was sentenced to six years in prison Friday for sexually assaulting a friend while she was sleeping at a Lafayette residence.
Shebourne Valenzuela was convicted in June of one count of sexual penetration of an unconscious person for an act he committed on a 21-year-old woman in June 2012, according to prosecutor Derek Butts.
The woman and Valenzuela were sleeping at a friend's house after a night out drinking when the woman woke up to find Valenzuela touching her sexually, Butts said.
Another woman testified at the trial that she was Valenzuela's friend in July 2011 when, at a house in Solano County, she awoke to Valenzuela raping her, Butts said. That woman had not previously reported the rape to authorities, Butts said, but the incident has since been forwarded to the Solano County District Attorney's Office for consideration.
