MARTINEZ -- A San Francisco police officer was arraigned Wednesday on charges that he molested a teenager in Concord and kept child pornography, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
Richard Hastings, 38, of Antioch, turned himself into police Tuesday after being charged Jan. 16 with nine counts of lewd acts on a 15-year-old child and one count of possession of child pornography, said prosecutor Alison Chandler.
Hastings has been a San Francisco police officer since 2001 and was suspended without pay upon his arrest by Concord police in August, according to a San Francisco police spokeswoman.
Chandler did not share any details surrounding the allegations against Hastings other than that the crimes occurred in Concord from June to August.
Hastings appeared in custody in a Martinez courtroom Wednesday morning. He didn't enter a plea and indicated he was looking to hire an attorney, Chandler said.
His previous attorney, Harry Stern, said in August that Hastings believed the teenager was of legal age and their sexual relationship was consensual.
Hastings is being held in County Jail in lieu of $910,000 bail. He returns to court Friday.
