ANTIOCH -- In response to allegations made by parents of players, Antioch High principal Louie Rocha has placed five Panthers baseball coaches, including head varsity coach Ben Juarez, on administrative leave while the Antioch Unified School District investigates the matter.
Antioch teacher and junior varsity coach Carlos Gonzales has been appointed as the interim varsity coach.
Allegations of what the district considers to be "inappropriate conduct" surfaced last week, pertaining to events from last season, according to Keith Rogenski, district assistant superintendent of human resources. The coaches placed on administrative leave were associated with the varsity and junior varsity teams, Rogenski said.
Aaron Miles, an Antioch graduate who played in the major leagues from 2003 to 2011, has offered to help out the baseball program, Rocha said.
Rocha would not go into specifics about the allegations, only saying the matter is under investigation.
