PITTSBURG -- Linda Rondeau, the superintendent of the Pittsburg Unified School District, announced her retirement at a school board meeting Wednesday night.

Her retirement will be effective June 30.

Before she was appointed to the post in April 2010, Rondeau served as the district's deputy superintendent of education services for the previous five years and had worked for more than 30 years as a teacher and administrator in various Contra Costa County public schools.

The district serves more than 10,500 K-12 students.
