DUBLIN -- Shaya Mehta scored 19 of her game-high 29 points in the second half to lead International to a come-from-behind 56-50 upset victory over top-seeded Valley Christian on Wednesday in the North Coast Section Division V girls basketball semifinals.

"This game was about heart and determination," International coach Charlene Murphy said. "Valley is a great team so this is a huge team win for us in our goal to win NCS."

The Vikings built a 10-point lead at 34-24 early in the third quarter after Nina Bessolo scored six straight points coming out of the half. But the Jaguars responded with a 13-4 run, pulling within 38-37 on Mehta's layup early in the fourth quarter.

Valley Christian appeared to regain control, taking a 46-39 lead on Ari Cunha's basket to cap an 8-2 burst. Mehta then scored six straight points to get International within one at 46-45 and then the Jaguars took their first lead on Melanie Fun's layup with about three minutes left.

Mehta then sealed the game with a jumper, an assist to Casey Encinas for a basket and three free throws to move the Jaguars to the section championship game against No. 6 St. Vincent-Petaluma on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Albany High.
