CONCORD -- Natalie Romeo and Christina Chenault helped spark a 26-point second quarter, ending with a 15-0 scoring run, as the Carondelet High basketball team easily advanced to the North Coast Section Division II championship game with a 92-44 win over Dublin on Wednesday.

Romeo scored eight of her 13 points in the quarter. Chenault's second straight fast-break layup ended the scoring run which boosted Carondelet's lead to 56-24.

The Cougars (26-3) hit Dublin (18-10) with relentless defensive pressure with a full-court press, and at the other end let loose with a rain of 3-pointers, burying 13. Makenzie Cast led the attack with 20 points, including five treys.

Chenault had 16 points and Marcella Hughes added 15 for Carondelet, which led 90-34 after three quarters. Milan Moses led Dublin with 17 points.

Julyana Amante's layup got the Gaels within 7-4 early in the first quarter, but the Cougars kept scoring in bunches. A trey and a layup by Romeo ended a quick 10-point spurt, and Katie Rathbun's 3-pointer highlighted a 7-point outburst for a 27-10 lead.

Dublin got within 30-20 after baskets by Moses and Alanna Yee to start the second quarter, but the Cougars reeled off another nine unanswered points.
