In response to Martha Ross' March 9 article "Secret Struggle," on mental health stigma in the workplace:

You did an extremely good job of explaining to those of us suffering from our "Secret Struggle" that there is help out there to those stabilized on a regime of medication, therapy and support. Your article was not only informative, but relatable and eye-opening. Thank you again for helping to lift the stigma off mental illness, while at the same time making those of us with the "Secret Struggle" feel as if we are not alone.

In response to Richard Scheinin's March 8 review of Vienna Philharmonic's performance of Mahler's Fourth Symphony:

Thank you for your clear-eyed and candid review of the Vienna Philharmonic's concert. I was so disappointed in the concert, and I had been so looking forward to it.

I'd seen Lorin Maazel conduct in New York about five years ago, and his interpretations seemed all right to me then. This Mahler was terrible and excruciating to listen to. I noticed the sound differences with the Vienna Philharmonic versus other orchestras, but I attribute the failure to Maazel. Also, I was mystified at the standing ovation Maazel received.
