Mental health needs in Contra Costa County are the subject of a series of public forums over the next two weeks sponsored by the Behavioral Health Services Division of the county Health Services Department.

The agency seeks feedback from the public, in particular users of mental health services, their families and community-based organizations with an interest in mental health care, as it prepares a three-year plan to use state Mental Health Services Act funding, according to a news release Friday.

The MHSA funds community-based mental health programs that must meet specific criteria and guidelines; local agencies must submit detailed funding requests annually, according to the release.

Agency staff members will provide an analysis of recent need assessments and focus group discussions about programs that are or could be funded by the MHSA.

The forums are scheduled at the following locations and times:

  • Martinez: 3-5 p.m. Wednesday at county Department of Conservation and Development, 30 Muir Road.

  • Bay Point: 3-5 p.m. March 25 at Ambrose Center, 3105 Willow Pass Road.

  • Richmond: 3-5 p.m. March 26 at RYSE Center, 205 41st St.
