PLEASANT HILL -- Jessica Hudson, who has served as head librarian in both Tehama and Nevada counties, has been named the new Contra Costa County librarian.

Hudson, who has 13 years of experience in the field, was selected from among more than two dozen candidates nationwide. She starts in Contra Costa on April 14.

Hudson, a Solano County native, received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Sacramento State University, and a master's degree in library science from San Jose State University.

County Administrator David Twa said he expects Hudson to bring the energy and technology-focus needed to drive the Contra Costa Library to even greater achievements.

Hudson succeeds Cathy Sanford, who had been acting county librarian since Barbara Flynn's retirement in November 2013.
