PLEASANT HILL -- A man armed with a gun forced his way into a Pleasant Hill home, locked two women in a room and ransacked the place Sunday evening, authorities said.

The home invasion robbery began at 9:46 p.m. on the 900 block of Santa Lucia Drive with a knock on the door, police said. When a woman answered, the man flashed his handgun and pushed his way inside, according to Sgt. Matt Kristic.

He locked the two women -- ages 53 and 84 -- in a room while he stole jewelry and electronics, Kristic said. The suspect then drove away in the victim's 2013 Volkswagen Passat. The car's license plate is 6XYC377. The man and the car have not been found.

He is described as a white man in his mid-30s, about 5-feet-11-inches, with an average build and a dark beard. He was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call Pleasant Hill's investigations bureau at 925-288-4630.
