PINOLE -- A 24-year-old Pinole man was shot dead in Tara Hills on Monday, authorities said.
The man, identified as Nicholas Callen, was shot at a home on the 2600 block of Cornelius Drive at about 2:50 p.m. in the unincorporated area near Pinole, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff's deputies performed CPR on Callen before firefighters and medics arrived, according to sheriff spokesman Jimmy Lee. They were unable to revive him.
No motive has been established and no arrests have been made.
