MARTINEZ -- Election observers and anyone else who is interested can witness a test next week of the voting equipment that will be used in the May 6 mail ballot election, Contra Costa County Registrar of Voters Joe Canciamilla announced in a news release.

Election observers will be subject to observer guidelines that include providing picture identification and signing in to be admitted to the testing observation area. The test will be performed at 10 a.m. May 2 at the county Elections Office, 555 Escobar St., Martinez.

Observers must check in at the Elections Office.

There will be three mail ballot elections on May 6:

  • Measure A, in the Acalanes Union High School District, a continuation of a $112 annual parcel tax.

  • Measure B, in the Lafayette School District, an extension of an expiring $539 annual parcel tax for local schools.

  • Measure C, in the West Contra Costa Healthcare District, an annual parcel tax of 14 cents per square foot of building area -- that comes out to $168 for a 1,200-square-foot house -- for emergency room care, intensive care and other critical medical services at Doctors Medical Center San Pablo.
