PLEASANT HILL -- It's getting to the point where gourmands won't be able to throw a pork bun or a gourmet cupcake in central Contra Costa County without hitting a food truck.

The latest addition to the mobile meals universe is Taste of the World Market, which is bringing lunchtime food trucks to the dining wasteland of Contra Costa Centre. Beginning May 1, the market will set up shop in the central square between the Pleasant Hill-Contra Costa Centre BART station and the transit village from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays.

Market organizer Javid Ebrahimi, who owns the Grab & Go Kebob food truck, expects to have about six trucks serving up diverse cuisine each week plus a juice bar.

Also in May, Off the Grid plans to open a weekly food truck market from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays on Trelany Road behind Pleasant Hill City Hall.
