PITTSBURG -- Members of a Danville-based youth lacrosse team participated in a day of landscaping and clean-up work at the nonprofit St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County's Family Resource Center.

More than 20 members of the Diablo Scorpion Lacrosse U-15 Boys Stinger team, along with parents, pulled weeds, trimmed hedges and bushes, planted new flowers and washed down the sidewalks on April 5 at the resource center, which provides a range of services for low-income residents, including a thrift store, a free medical clinic for the uninsured, job training and a daytime homeless shelter, among other services.
