SAN PABLO -- A "Respiratory Rally" next month will offer tips to help people manage lung disease and live longer, healthier lives.
Sponsored by the Contra Costa County Health Services Department and the American Lung Association of California, the May 2 event will feature medical experts and motivational presenters, according to a news release from the county. A patient panel will discuss pulmonary rehabilitation, offer demonstrations of respiratory devices and oxygen therapy, and local resources for people with lung disease such as asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis, also known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.
The event also marks the kickoff of a new Better Breathers Club in the San Pablo area; organizers will offer sign-ups for the support group, which will meet monthly to provide patient-centered and community-based education and peer support to people with chronic lung disease.
A morning snack and a healthy lunch will be provided, and there will be a raffle.
Respiratory Rally will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Maple Hall in the San Pablo Civic Center, 13831 San Pablo Ave. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
