¿The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office invites residents to bring in their expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for disposal on Saturday, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The event, sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, is intended to prevent pill abuse and theft as well as discourage people from disposing of the meds in unhealthy and environmentally damaging ways such as flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash.
Only pills or patches will be accepted. No liquids, needles or other sharp objects will be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, and no questions will be asked, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office
The meds will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following drop-off locations:
More information, including other drop-off locations, is available on the DEA website at www.dea.gov.
