RICHMOND -- A Hercules man who sexually abused his 3-year-old stepdaughter was formally sentenced Friday to 22 years to life in prison, prosecutor Alison Chandler said.
Jason Webb, 22, was convicted Feb. 11 of six felony counts related to his abuse of a toddler of a woman he had just married. The jury returned the verdict after two hours of deliberation, Chandler said.
Webb met his wife, who was living in Kentucky, on the Internet, Chandler said. He convinced her to come to California, and the two married within a week of her June 2011 arrival.
The newlyweds returned to Kentucky to retrieve the girl. Within three weeks of returning to California, the prosecutor said, Webb was abusing the girl.
Investigators discovered Webb had documented his abuse with cellphone photos. They also found child pornography on his home computer.
Webb will have to serve 18 years and nine months before becoming eligible for parole.
