DANVILLE -- Danville's Village Theatre Art Gallery is looking for entries for its fourth annual juried exhibition, "Everyday Beauty," which will run June 27 through Aug. 16.
The deadline for entries is May 30 at 5 p.m. All media will be considered and artists of all ages accepted, whether established, emerging or a hobbyist.
The theme of the exhibition will be a call for everyday beauty that "calls us to express mindfulness to express mindfulness, to take a deep breath, to look and listen for the rhythms of forms that surround us -- old leather shoes, a footstep on crackling leaves, a stranger's greeting and apple pie a la mode," said Kathryn Wills, the town's Curatorial Committee member. "We are invited to observe the familiar and uplift its status to enrich our creative, viewing experience."
Micaëla van Zwoll, an independent curator and consultant with strong ties to the contemporary fine arts community in San Francisco, will serve as the exhibition's juror. As director of Micaëla Gallery, she is a philanthropist and collector who has worked closely with emerging and established artists.
