CONCORD -- The De La Salle High baseball team used a couple of seven-run innings to beat Liberty 14-1 in five innings on Saturday and advance to the North Coast Section Division I semifinals.
Following his leadoff double, Jack Glosso stole home on the back end of a double steal, and the Spartans' aggressive baserunning set the tone for a seven-run first inning.
The Spartans will host East Bay Athletic League foe Foothill in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Myles Coston drove in two runs with a two-out single, then scored from first on an infield error. Dustin Miller scored the final run of the inning, reaching home from second on Glosso's infield single.
That was more than enough support for De La Salle's Justin Hooper. He gave up three hits and struck out six in four innings, hitting 95 mph with his fastball in the first inning.
Glosso, Chris Williams and Coston each had two hits and drove in two runs, and Michael Reuling added a two-run pinch-hit single when the Spartans scored seven runs in the fourth.
Mitchell Zamora was 2-for-2 and drove in the only run for the seventh-seeded Lions (14-12).
