DANVILLE -- The De La Salle High lacrosse team won its fourth North Coast Section championship Saturday, dominating the third quarter to help down host and No. 2 seed San Ramon Valley 11-5 in the Division I final.

The game got off to a slow start as the fifth-seeded Spartans led 1-0 after the first quarter. The Wolves had plenty of chances, though, as they had three one-man advantages but couldn't put the ball in the net.

De La Salle (13-7) opened up a 3-0 lead in the second quarter, courtesy of two Brook Rideau goals. San Ramon Valley got on the board when captain Peter Tagliaferri scored in the closing minutes of the first half.

But the Spartans took over from there, netting five goals in the third quarter, including two from midfielder George Waidelich. Attackman Stephen Wilm led De La Salle with two goals and a game-high five assists.

Spartans goalie Johnny Perlite was sensational, picking up eight saves overall and thwarting the Wolves' comeback in the fourth quarter.

Tagliaferri finished with two goals for San Ramon Valley (14-9), which had outscored opponents 43-9 in three playoff games before the final. Midfielder Erik Arvesen added two goals, both assisted by midfielder Carter Nichols.

De La Salle's four title matches it with Monte Vista for the most in the section. The Spartans' last championship game in 2010.
