Roxane Langevin, above center, was the keynote speaker at Monday's 2014 Memorial Day ceremony at Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek. Roxane Langevin is the mother of Army Cpl. Sean Langevin, killed in a November 2007 ambush attack in Afghanistan; a photograph of Sean Langevin can be seen next to his plaque at Civic Park . Roxane Langevin was greeted here by Patricia Reilly, left, and Ethel Reilly; the latter is the mother of Marine Lance Cpl. Robert John Reilly Jr., killed while serving in Vietnam. After the ceremony, Roxane Langevin gives her granddaughter Zoe Langevin, 6, of Concord a hug and a kiss. Zoe was born three months after her father's death.
