OAKLAND--A three-car accident just west of the Caldecott Tunnel closed one eastbound bore of the tunnel and backed up traffic Wednesday evening.
The accident was first reported at 8:07 p.m. on eastbound Highway 24, according to the California Highway Patrol. One person was injured.
The crash prompted a traffic alert that closed the left eastbound bore of the tunnel and temporarily blocked one lane of the right bore, CHP said. Officials did not have an estimate for when the bore would be reopened.
