PLEASANTON -- Get free legal information at Stoneridge mall this summer from John F. Kennedy University law professors.

The free legal information is part of the university's legal education series. Professors will be at the shopping center on six different dates this summer starting Saturday, June 28 and running through Sept. 13. The professors will be at the mall every other Saturday through August and then again for one date in September.

Each event is held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the lower level near Macy's and California Pizza Kitchen. At the first meeting, the topics to be covered will include tenant and landlord issues, including what legal protections do tenants have from eviction, rent increases, uninhabitable conditions, withheld deposits and other issues? And, what remedies do landlords have in addition to eviction?

Later sessions will cover conservatorship for the elderly, durable power of attorney, debt collection, bankruptcy, legal rights with police, divorce, custody issues and small claims.

The presentations are for general information only and do not constitute legal advice.

John F. Kennedy University College of Law professors provide this service for people who are unable to afford private attorneys. Professors donate their time to provide information in their areas of expertise. The university has campuses in Berkeley, San Jose and Pleasant Hill.

Visit jfku.edu/events.html for details on each Saturday information session. Space is limited and an RSVP is required for each session.
