Free lunches are available this summer to young people ages 1 to 18 via the Contra Costa Library system and local school districts.
Participating locations are in West and East Contra Costa: The Pittsburg Library, 80 Power Drive, offers lunches and snacks from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and snacks from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday through Aug. 9, provided by the Pittsburg Unified School Disrict. Details: 925-427-8390. The San Pablo Library, 2300 El Portal Drive, offers lunches through the West Contra Costa Unified School District from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday through Aug. 15. Details: 510-374-3998. The Shields-Reid Center at 1410 Kelsey St. in North Richmond provides lunches from the West Contra Costa County school district from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will also be a 1 p.m. story time each Wednesday. Details: 510-620-6822.
