ANTIOCH -- Police made several arrests and recovered weapons and stolen vehicles Thursday during a sweep of neighborhoods where violent crime has increased, according to authorities.

Working with the California Highway Patrol, Antioch police arrested seven people for alleged drug and weapons violations and seized three handguns, police said. Officers also recovered three stolen vehicles, including one from a previous carjacking.

Police did not say which neighborhoods were involved in the sweep.
