ANTIOCH -- Hiring a fraudulent contractor, getting ripped off by identity thieves, or being bamboozled by Medicare are common scams that seniors fall victim to.
But there are ways to prevent it from happening.
Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Stockton, will host a seminar 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday to help give seniors the tools to know when things aren't on the up and up.
The seminar will be at the community room of the Antioch Police Department, 300 L St. Caregivers and family members are also encouraged to attend, McNerney's office said in a news release.
Experts from the Contractors State License Board and State Controller's Office, and other agencies will be at the seminar, along with speakers from local, state and federal agencies.
Other topics include fraudulent auto repair and investments.
