MARTINEZ -- Mayor Rob Schroder has filed to run for re-election this November, seeking his fourth term.

He has a challenger in Gay Gerlack, a small-business owner involved in the community who ran for council in 2010.

Felix Sanchez also filed to run for mayor but did not qualify because he did not have 20 valid Martinez voter signatures, which is required of candidates, according to Deputy City Clerk Mercy Cabral.

Besides the mayoral race, two council seats are up for election. Both incumbents Lara DeLaney and Mike Menesini have filed with the city clerk to run for their four-year seats. Retired IT manager Mark Thomson, Debbie McKillop, a sheriff's forensic manager and Mike Alford, who has run multiple times have all thrown their hat in the ring for the council seats.
