TASSAJARA VALLEY- Save Mount Diablo and San Ramon Vice Mayor Phil O'Loane are organizing a hike Saturday to tour the location of a 100,000- to 150,000- plot cemetery planned for the Tassajara Valley.
The group plans to trek along the Tassajara Ridge through San Ramon's Hidden Valley Open Space from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to tour the proposed sites for Creekside Memorial Park Cemetery and Tassajara Parks, a 152-unit development which seeks to expand the urban limit line to accommodate 30 acres of development north of Camino Tassajara.
Participants have an option of doing a one-mile hike that reveals 360-degree views of the area or walking 3.5 miles roundtrip to the northeast corner of the open space area and back.
The first quarter mile is a moderate uphill hike, with the remainder being easier and on rolling terrain, organizers say.
The group will meet at 2187 Longleaf Circle in San Ramon. Hikers are asked to park across the street there and carpool if possible. Hikers should bring water, sunscreen, hat, and a snack if desired.
