Following extensive renovations, the Department of Motor Vehicles' offices in Pittsburg and Concord are scheduled to reopen in September.

The Pittsburg office in the Highlands Square Shopping Center on Buchanan Road will open its doors on Sept. 17. The Diamond Boulevard location in Concord reopens Sept. 29.

Both offices will resume normal business hours -- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The Concord office has been closed since early April, while workers painted, installed a new heating, air conditioning and ventilation system, resealed the parking lot, replaced furniture and made improvements to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The closure has caused long lines at the Walnut Creek DMV.

The DMV in Pittsburg closed at the end of July for painting, new flooring and other upgrades.
