BRENTWOOD -- Motorists on Highway 4 can expect some delays in the overnight hours later this week as work continues in anticipation of realigning the road.
The contractor for the widening project will be placing asphalt pavement and temporary traffic control devices on the freeway between Lone Tree Way and Balfour Road, including Sand Creek Road, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. overnight Wednesday and Thursday, Contra Costa Transportation Authority said in a news release.
Work continues from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. overnight Friday and Saturday to add new traffic signals, a safety barrier rail, striping, and sign placement at Sand Creek.
Crews will be controlling traffic and using flagging to ensure crew safety and minimize traffic, according to the transportation authority.
Drivers should expect some delays and allow extra commute time.
