For his Eagle Scout community service project, Woodland brought technology up to today's standards for children in Performing Arts at Parkmead Elementary School in Walnut Creek. The project consisted of disassembling the existing 50-year-old sound system in the school's multipurpose room, including speakers and a soundboard both outdated and partially broken. He worked with volunteers to assemble the new sound system and soundboard. Wires were taken from the old sound board and connected to the new Mackie DL 1608 state-of-the-art digital soundboard with Apple iPad wireless connectivity. The new board was set up to create a high-quality sound, In addition they replaced all of the stage lights and installed new colored lenses for stage lighting, organized wires to run through surface molding to bring electrical cords along the walls of the stage to the monitors for sound and built a cabinet to store the new soundboard equipment. The project benefits Parkmead Elementary School as well as the community at large which uses the multipurpose room for a plethora of Performing Arts events.
