The parade was a precursor to the 76th annual Walnut Festival, taking place today (5 to 10 p.m.), Friday (5 to 11 p.m.), Saturday (11 a.m. to 11 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.) at Heather Farm Park. The festival will feature two live music stages, two areas of carnival rides, a beer garden and a car show. Admission is $6 per person; $1 off per ticket when a guest brings a can of food to donate to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano; free for active military with valid identification, seniors and for children under 5 with paid adult admission.
