WALNUT CREEK -- The Walnut Creek Library Foundation will present a series of four free financial workshops on Friday mornings in October, the first being "Finance 101," at 11 a.m. Oct. 4 in the Oak View Room at the Walnut Creek Library downtown.

That session will be led by Ward Pynn, a partner with PMB Helin Donovan CPA.

The workshop speakers -- investment experts, CPAs and others who know about retirement planning -- will discuss how to fund college, income investing and asset allocation, retirement planning, estate planning and charitable giving.

Other planned sessions include:

  • Oct. 11, "Income Investing," with Jude Bedell and Meredith Rosen, Bedell Frazier Investment Counselling, LLC.

  • Oct. 18, "How to Create Sustainable Income in Retirement," with George Noceti, chartered retirement specialist, wealth adviser and senior partner with the Integra Group at Morgan Stanley in Walnut Creek.

  • Oct. 25, "Estate Planning and Charitable Giving Under the New Laws," with Gordon Baker, Jr., attorney and certified specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law with 30 years of experience.
