DUBLIN -- A City Hall insider will become the next city manager.
The City Council agreed Tuesday night to promote Chris Foss, the Dublin assistant city manager since 2008, to succeed retiring City Manager Joni Pattillo.
The vote was 5-0 to pick Foss rather than recruit and interview other candidates to lead Dublin, the fastest growing city in Alameda County. His pay and other compensation details will be negotiated by Foss and a council subcommittee, according to a news release from the city.
"We found the leadership we need already in City Hall," City Councilman Kevin Hart said Wednesday.
The council decided on Foss Tuesday night after interviewing him during a closed session.
Foss will become the third city manager since Dubln incorporated in 1982.
Foss initially will serve as acting city manager after Pattillo leaves City Hall by the end of the year. He will become permanent city manager April 26, giving Pattillo time to use up accrued leave time and formally begin her retirement, Hart said.
